Membership

Membership of SOCC is generally open to all infrastructure asset owners, their operators and service delivery partners, and related government entities who have an interest in the streetscape, including:

  • Local government authorities
  • State road authorities
  • Service utilities (e.g. power, water, gas, telecommunications)
  • Rail authorities
  • Major pipeline owners / operators (e.g. oil and gas)
  • Relevant regulatory authorities


Membership may also include consulting firms who have an ongoing interest in street allocations and utility services.
There have been significant changes in recent years in the operational environments of both utility asset owners and local government authorities. Corporatisation and the introduction of competitive tendering, together with community service obligations, have sharpened the focus on achieving cooperative and efficient practices.  SOCC in the peak national industry body that facilitates collaboration between the above stakeholders to achieve optimum outcomes for the communities they serve.  Collaboration occurs at different levels which cover asset allocation policies and damage minimisation, best practice guidelines, knowledge sharing and awareness training.
